The Gastein ski hoods

Six Salzburg award-winning chefs provide culinary highlights

In the midst of the Hohe Tauern, at the Gastein ski huts, the stop is particularly rewarding. Especially popular are all the dishes around the fine spicy goulash soup, the hut classic spaghetti Bolognese, and not to forget the delicious homemade pastries, such as yeast dumplings with vanilla sauce, or curd cheese blueberry strudel, mmhhh....
Now the Gastein innkeepers have teamed up with Salzburg chefs from top gastronomy, and developed the Gastein Skihauben. From the start of the season, a selected hood dish can be ordered at selected huts throughout the winter.

So that the stopover during your winter vacation in the Gastein Valley becomes a real culinary highlight.

Welcome to the summit of delights
Each chef was asked to create his or her own recipe, primarily using ingredients from the region. This will now be recreated daily at one of the selected huts in Gastein and served to the guests. A wine accompaniment is offered to each dish. And also the huts are adapted to the exquisite offer - service at the table included.

An offer that enjoys great popularity! Not least because of the unbeatable price: a hood dish costs a maximum of 20 euros. Who can resist?

Some of the ski huts are also easy to reach without skis. Thus this culinary benefit is not reserved only for the winter sportsmen. Also the Wellness and health holiday-makers in the Gasteinertal can participate in the palate joys.

Behind the Gastein ski hoods are six hood chefs from Salzburg province:

  • Johanna Maier, The Maier in Filzmoos.
  • Vitus Winkler, Vitus Cooking in St. Veit im Pongau
  • Sepp Schellhorn, The Seehof in Goldegg
  • Johannes Fuchs, Schloss Restaurant in Fuschl Castle in Hof near Salzburg
  • Lukas Ziesel, Völlerei in Saalfelden
  • Jörg Wörther, In Memoriam "A top chef has returned home to Gastein for his final resting place." Your creative culinary ideas inspired the culinary world and made Gastein proud." Thank you Jörg for developing another recipe for the ski hoods.
