Things to love about winter in Gastein:

  1. Ski huts with an open fire and homemade meals, rather than tourist traps
  2. The icy sculpture created by the frozen Gastein Waterfall
  3. Glistening air and radiant sunshine, with temperatures around - 10° C
  4. Building snowmen and making snow angels
  5. The calming silence of the snow itself
  6. Drinking a toasty mug of mulled wine with your friends
  7. Hearing the jingling of sleigh bells and the snorting of horses
  8. Catching snowflakes in your mouth
  9. After an active day of skiing, enjoying a plate of spare ribs or a schnitzel with an absolutely clear conscience
  10. Being able to decide whether you are in the mood for the full "après-ski experience" or just a quiet drink
