When you immerse yourself in the music of Austrian jazz pianist Reinhard Micko, you soon feel that it opens an atmospheric space where everything is good. A special authenticity and emotional genuineness conveys very clearly that this person has come close to his own inner center. It has certainly contributed that he became a father in 2017. Experiencing and accompanying his now nine-year-old daughter brings forth new major life themes, which Reinhard Micko processes compositionally. This is reflected in the lovingly flowing piece "Lena," or in the extremely original title track "ZÄHNEPUTZEN" of the current program / the current CD of his quartet Reinhard Micko & Friends. He is accompanied by the exceptional saxophonist Herb Berger, his long-standing musical companion Karl Sayer on bass, and top drummer Harry Tanschek, supplemented by the Hungarian percussionist András Dés
Micko is also exploring new paths by composing to honor musicians who have been a great source of inspiration for him. This can be heard in the piece "Chick," dedicated to the keyboard genius Chick Corea, in the suite "Joe," with which he acoustically honors the music of the great Joe Zawinul, as well as in the composition "In the field," a musical bow to guitar master John Scofield.
