If 44-year-old Vladimir Kostadinovic were American and not Serbian residing in Austria, he would not only be known among insiders as an energetic, versatile, and also compositionally creative drum virtuoso. However, he is already recognized by colleagues in the fiercely competitive New York scene as one of their own – even in today's times, this is still a mark of honor for musicians, as long as they operate within the stylistics of the modern mainstream based on bop. Like his debut album, "Iris," his third leader album was created in the Big Apple, and it features a top-notch lineup. He could indeed present challenging pieces to such greats, like the piece "The World Keeps Ending and The World Keeps Going On," which shifts between 9/4, 7/4, and 5/4 time – almost a comforting title in today's era. The challenges are brilliantly met; one feels like they are hearing a band of musicians who have been passionately playing together for a long time. "I want to find a balance between my family and music, which is a significant challenge when you are constantly on the road," explains the drummer. Thus, the album is named after his daughter and dedicated to his wife. Kostadinovic's compositions – seven of the nine pieces are his – reflect this issue. In "Iris," you can hear the proud voice of his little daughter reciting a Father's Day poem about him. "Unborn Child" processes the initial feeling of happiness about another pregnancy and the despair over the miscarriage while he was performing in distant China. A highly energetic, emotionally moving album, with "Echoes Of Eternity" as a lyrical point of respite to catch a breath.
