Due to its high alpine location, the Gasteinertal valley is known for its snow reliability. The Sportgastein ski area, which reaches up to 2,686 meters, scores points with freeriders for its numerous deep snow slopes that can be reached without a long ascent. It is not for nothing that top athletes such as Sandra Lahnsteiner have settled in Gastein. In addition, international contests, competitions and freeride camps are held regularly.

The Gastein Valley simply has so much to offer, its versatility never ceases to amaze any "non-Gastein connoisseur": Sportgastein with its high alpine runs and the Schareck run from the Mölltal Glacier to Sportgastein as an absolute highlight. Bad Gastein - the Stubnerkogel - attracts with an incredible variety of variants in the Jungeralm area, and the Schlossalm area offers numerous options directly accessible from the lifts.

To sum it up: Gastein has something to offer for every weather and avalanche situation! In dense snow drifts, you can have fun on various forest runs or even the new Katstall run. If the weather is stable, countless open slopes or big mountain runs will attract you. Simply nice!

With freeride alpine you can enjoy the freedom and really have fun in the Hohe Tauern. Whether with the freeride ski or the freeride snowboard - in the Gasteinertal valley you have many great options for your exciting trip in the Austrian mountains!

 

However, the prerequisite for this is the right equipment including avalanche VS device, probe, shovel as well as the right preparation. Do not put yourself in danger unnecessarily! You can check the avalanche transceiver at the avalanche search field on the valley floor in Sportgastein to make sure it is working properly. Avalanche awareness is an important topic for ski routes and ski slopes away from marked trails and other skiers. Your safety is also a top priority when freeriding.
