Framed by the glaciated mountains of the Tauern range, the panorama in Nassfeld impresses its visitors. The Nassfeld is not untouched nature, but rather a cultural landscape shaped by humans for centuries. Remnants of mining and the ancient Roman road are traces of the once-busy trade route over the Mallnitzer Tauern.
The National Park themed trail Nassfeld is located at the end of the Gastein Valley Nassfeld and begins directly at the information hut of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Here, visitors receive additional information on the areas of geology, the basis of life water, wildlife, and alpine flora, which are characteristic of the Gastein Nassfeld.
From the parking lot, the trail runs southward, towards Nassfeldalm and Brandtneralm. The hike is classified as "easy - medium" and is therefore also suitable for families with somewhat older children.
