Ice bathing Gastein

Winter wellness in the Hohe Tauern National Park

Ice bathing in the Gastein Valley means more than just a brief dip in cold water. It combines the powerful nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park with yoga, conscious breathing, mental training and a shared experience that has a lasting effect on body and mind. The clear mountain air, the tranquillity of the snow-covered landscape and the pure, ice-cold Gastein water create a unique setting for this special form of winter wellness.

The power of breathing

Breathing is the key to a safe start to ice bathing.
Conscious breathing helps you to keep a cool head and enjoy the experience until the desired effects kick in.

The power of cold

The cold has an immediate and intense effect - and this is precisely where its potential lies. When ice bathing, the body contracts briefly in order to then activate the circulation , stimulate blood flow and mobilize inner warmth. This conscious stimulus strengthens the immune system, promotes regeneration and provides a lasting feeling of clarity and energy.

If one or more of the following descriptions apply to you:

  • panic disorders

I have a cold. Can I still go ice bathing?

Ice bathing strengthens the immune system, but only when you are healthy. At the moment, your body needs all the energy it can get to recover. A cold bath would be counterproductive.

I've never been ice swimming before. How can I prepare myself?

It is best to start taking regular cold showers. This can be a big challenge at first, so it's best to start small. For example: start by only using your feet. And over time, you may even enjoy the refreshing full-body shower.
