Scantily clad, on foot and on cross-country skis through the winter landscape, topped off with a quick dip in ice-cold water - and all at a maximum temperature of 0°. Sounds crazy, but it has positive effects on the immune system and provides energy. This is the Ice4Life outdoor event in Gastein.

Winter wellness in the Hohe Tauern National Park
Ice bathing in the Gastein Valley means more than just a brief dip in cold water. It combines the powerful nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park with yoga, conscious breathing, mental training and a shared experience that has a lasting effect on body and mind. The clear mountain air, the tranquillity of the snow-covered landscape and the pure, ice-cold Gastein water create a unique setting for this special form of winter wellness.
Breathing is the key to a safe start to ice bathing.
Conscious breathing helps you to keep a cool head and enjoy the experience until the desired effects kick in.

If one or more of the following descriptions apply to you:
Ice bathing strengthens the immune system, but only when you are healthy. At the moment, your body needs all the energy it can get to recover. A cold bath would be counterproductive.
It is best to start taking regular cold showers. This can be a big challenge at first, so it's best to start small. For example: start by only using your feet. And over time, you may even enjoy the refreshing full-body shower.
