Photographer Gerrit Engel dedicates his new book, Stein (Stone), to Bad Gastein and its distinctive landscape of rock, water, and architecture.
Over the course of several visits, Engel explored the geological and cultural origins of the valley through photography. At the heart of the project is stone—the fundamental element without which neither the waterfall nor Bad Gastein's unique architectural and natural landscape would exist. Through calm and meticulously composed images, Engel examines the relationship between stone and water, revealing both the visible and hidden layers of the place.
Drawing on the tradition of typological photography, his work combines architectural observation with fundamental questions of identity, transience, and origin. The book is published by Verlag Walther und Franz König.
Following the book presentation, guests are invited to join an optional barbecue with musical entertainment.
