The original idea of the Ski & Golf Competition was to celebrate the transition between winter and summer sports with one event. On the mountains, at almost 2,700 meters, there is still plenty of snow, while in the valley a perfectly manicured green is already guaranteed.

 

Numerous participants come from Austria and abroad every year to compete for the coveted champion's title and the Gastein silver mug at the International Ski & Golf Competition. The venue of the Golf Challenge is the Golfclub Gastein, one of the oldest and most traditional golf clubs in Austria.

The traditional event in Gastein

The International Ski & Golf Competition was held for the first time in 1969. From the beginning, former sports stars were invited to compete together with the participating amateur athletes. Right at the first tournament, the seven-time world champion and three-time Olympic champion Toni Sailer won the competition.

 

Over the years, a whole range of former top stars of winter sports came to Gastein, such as Hermann Maier, Hans Knauß, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Hansi Hinterseer, Lasse Kjus, Stefan Eberharter, Stefan Kraft or local hero Bernhard Gruber and Hannes Grugger.

Giant slalom at almost 2,700 meters above sea level

Check your bindings once more, then you're off - down the perfectly groomed slope.

Watch out for the slalom flags - a perfect turn will bring you closer to your goal.

Playing golf on perfectly trimmed fairways

You can hit the tee shot with your left hand and have mastered an accurate golf swing? Very good! But only in combination with a successful giant slalom run do you have a good chance of winning the title.

  • Giant slalom in Sportgastein - first part of the competition
  • Ski test from HEAD to test next winter's models
  • Massage drive-in for all participants
  • Cocktail reception and gala dinner with live music at the Bad Hofgastein Congress Center
