Location of the accommodation
On the outskirts of Bad Hofgastein, our Hotel Zum Stern is located on a hill in a quiet location. From our certified hiking hotel you only need a 15-minute walk to reach the center of Bad Hofgastein and the famous Alpentherme.
Description
Our 37 romantic rooms and studios, furnished with solid wood furniture, as well as 13 junior suites invite you to relax and linger. You can catch a fantastic view of the Gastein mountains from our panoramic terrace.
In our in-house, 850m² wellness area, everything your heart desires awaits you. Let yourself be pampered with muscle-relieving massages and relax in our sauna area, the steam baths or in our panoramic indoor pool with adjacent sunbathing lawn.
For athletes, we have a versatile fitness room in our hotel, while beauty lovers enjoy individual consultation and treatment in our cosmetic room.
Culinary highlights are offered by our kitchen with regional products from local organic farmers. Wine lovers will find a wine cellar with a variety of maturing Austrian as well as international wines.
Winter in Gastein
In the nearby ski center Angertal with a 10,000m² practice area your children will learn skiing in a playful way. After an exciting day of skiing, the little ones head to the sauna area built especially for children. A horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Gastein Valley will make the eyes of young and old shine.
While your children are in good hands at the ski school, you can take your turns in the renowned ski areas of Salzburger Land or enjoy guided snowshoe hikes on the winter hiking trails.
Summer in Gastein
In summer, you can comfortably reach the playground with bouncy cushions, exciting climbing net pyramid and challenging but child-friendly via ferrata at an altitude of 2050m with the Schlossalm cable car. Downhill is action-packed, with a descent on the mountain scooters. Young and old can enjoy themselves on guided hikes on the extensive alpine paths of Gastein.

Coming from / via MUNICH approx. 3 hrs.
Coming from / via SALZBURG approx. 1 hour: Tauernautobahn direction south Graz-Villach to Bischofshofen, exit Gasteinertal, 35 km federal road to Bad Hofgastein-Süd, then turn right at the first exit in the traffic circle direction Angertal.
Coming from / via INNSBRUCK approx. 2 hrs: Motorway via Wörgl, federal road 312 via St. Johann/Tyrol to Lofer, federal road 311 via Zell am See to Lend, exit Gasteinertal, federal road to Bad Hofgastein-Süd, then turn right at the first exit in the traffic circle towards Angertal.
Coming from the SOUTH, drive via Villach, Möllbrücke and Obervellach to Mallnitz and from there reach Gastein through the Tauernschleuse with car loading. Take the main road to Bad Hofgastein-Süd, then turn right at the third exit towards Angertal. From the traffic circle it is another 300 m to the Hotel Zum Stern.
TIP: The freeways in Austria are subject to vignette.Please note that in Austria winter tires are mandatory: The regulation on compulsory winter tires applies from November 1 to April 15.
By train
You travel comfortably with the Austrian Federal Railways or the Deutsche Bahn AG. Your final destination is the train station Bad Hofgastein. From here it is only a 4.5 km cab ride to your destination, the Stern. Euro and Intercity trains as well as fast and express trains stop at Bad Hofgastein station.
Plane
Quickly, effortlessly and without traffic jams you can reach your destination by plane. From Munich airport (260 km) or Salzburg (90 km) there are transfers to Gastein several times a day. We at Stern will gladly organize your airport shuttle.
