An extraordinary music event this summer: matinee concerts in the forests of Gastein, with free admission! Enjoy nature, while simultaneously listening to the sounds of classical music – a unique combination! The new event series Wald:Klassik will take place throughout Gastein Valley in July and August 2020.
Nature provides the location: This classical music event takes place at different venues amid nature, assuring a one-of-a-kind ambience. The trees cast pleasant shade, the green of the leaves soothes the soul. Everybody’s ears eagerly await the start of the concert. The first gentle tones sound out, combine into an uplifting melody and fill the forest with magical sounds. There is something truly mystical about making music in a natural setting such as the forest. Conductor Elisabeth Fuchs, in her role as curator of Wald-Klassik Gastein, believes the time has come for this new form of musical enjoyment, saying: “Out into nature to enjoy music: The new concept Wald:Klassik fits perfectly into the times we live in.” Admission to all Wald.Klassik musical events is free!
From 16 July until 12 August 2020
Find peace and relaxation between the leaves and tree trunks, all the while enjoying culture in its most beautiful forms – courtesy of the new events series Wald:Klassik as of summer 2020. The driving forces behind this new concept are the regional tourist offices of Gastein Valley in cooperation with Philharmonie Salzburg. All concerts take place in a small, exclusive milieu – which applies to artists and visitors alike. In each case, the ensemble provided by Philharmonie Salzburg will consist of no more than 6 musicians, while the number of visitors is limited to a maximum of 40 people. That said, registration through the corresponding local tourist office is required.
Entire Gastein Valley, including the towns of Bad Hofgastein, Bad Gastein and Dorfgastein, becomes the venue for classical concerts in the forests. Concerts all begin at 11 AM and last approximately one hour.
The concerts take place in Angertal. We will meet at the Waldgasthof 45 minutes before the start of the concert. Guests can look forward to an easy guided hike with Fritz Zettenig. In bad weather, the concerts will be held in the Kursaal.
The Himmelwandhütte in Kötschachtal is the venue for this Wald:Klassik concert experience in Bad Gastein. We will meet at the Himmelwandhütte and take a walk of just a few minutes to the actual concert location (Fuchsbau). The path is clearly marked. Walking time from the Grüner Baum: Ca. 45 minutes. Carriage rides to the hut can also be organized. In bad weather, concerts are relocated to the Wiener Saal. These musical events take place on the following dates:
The concluding concert of Wald:Klassik 2020 takes place in Dorfgastein. In bad weather, the concert will be moved to Festsaal Dorfgastein. We will meet at the tourist office in Dorfgastein at 9:30 a.m. From there, a shuttle will bring us to the Huberalm, the starting point for a guided hike to the Drei Waller Kapelle. The walk takes roughly 30 minutes. If you’re not particularly good on your feet, arrangements can be made for a taxi (round-trip fare: 10 EUR).
