5630 Bad Hofgastein, AT
The Hohe Geissel lies on the main Tauern ridge, also demarcating the border between Salzburg and Carinthia. We will meet at the tourist office in Bad Hofgastein at 5:45 in the morning - next possibility to get on is in Bad Gastein, then take a taxi via Sportgastein. From the car park, we will go to the valley head and continue via the Eselskar to the Hagener Hütte. After a short break, the hike continues, past the Westerfrölkekogel (2.727 m), across any last remaining winter snow, to the summit of the Hoher Geisslkopf. The descent is identical with the hike up.
