The two exceptional musicians have been performing together since 2014, in the past mostly as a quartet with the trio mg3 and Tim Collins as a guest soloist. Now, for the first time, the two are entering the highly sensitive arena of duo playing. This high art, a musical tightrope act without a net or false bottom, so to speak, is probably the most transparent and intimate form of musical communication in general. It becomes particularly exciting for the performers and the audience when the improvisation element is kept high. This spontaneous musical action and reaction requires a great deal of mutual trust and, above all, the ability to constantly listen to and pay attention to each other. Tim Collins, a ‘first-call vibraphonist’ from New York, and Martin Gasselsberger, twice voted Jazz Musician of the Year in this country by the music magazine Concerto, will present almost exclusively original works on this evening. From touching ballads and lyrical songs to highly virtuosic compositions and improvisations full of wit, they will captivate jazz and classical music lovers alike. The concert will be followed by the now infamous tasting of fine sugar cane distillates, to which all those who have agreed or purchased a visitor contract with the Jazz im Sägewerk association for the year 2026 are invited!
