From mask carver to sculptor an exhibition by MAX KÖSSLER

Topics: Inverno | Cultura | Consiglio maltempo | Indoor

Information about the Event:

Rooted in his Homeland. A Lover of Nature. A Musician at Heart.

These words probably describe the Gastein native Max Kössler best. Max grew up on a mountain farm in Bad Hofgastein and soon discovered his love for the craft of carving. Great names such as Rudolf Geisler-Moroder, Gottfried Bammes and Josef Zenzmaier were among his teachers. Of course, the Gastein carving legend Sepp Lang is also among his role models. Some of Max's most famous works are the life-size bronze deer in the spa gardens of Bad Hofgastein, the Hubertus Chapel in the Ferleiten Game Park, the downhill skier in Kitzbühel and the monument to the skydiving legend Bubi Bradl in Mühlbach. The sculptor attaches particular importance to the choice of materials in his sculptures. For example, the cutting of the pine wood used is carried out in winter when the moon is waning in the zodiac sign of Capricorn. In addition to carving, Max is also a gifted musician; he was a clarinetist with the Salzburg Military Music and co-founder of the Kaiserquintett. Countless works of art ranging from Krampus masks, farmhouses, chapels, animals to abstract works have already been made by Max. A selection of them will be shown at the exhibition during the Advent Market Bad Hofgastein, among them is also the life's work of the artist - the life-size Bad Hofgastein Krampus group.
